Stroud, ON (May 30, 2017)- Eric Yorke kept the momentum rolling after the Spring Velocity victory, picking up the win on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
The DY Racing driver was quick right out of the gate, finishing second in the opening heat of the night. He then backed it up by scoring the win in the second qualifier.
Starting deep in the field, he began to make his way to the front immediately, running 13th as of the first caution of the event on Lap 4. He continued to make his way forward, breaking into the top-10 with 20 laps still remaining in the feature. The progress continued, with Yorke making his way up to sixth by the fourth caution at Lap 7.
He’d use the restart to break into the top-five, before making his way by Joe Dunlop for fourth after the next caution with 17 laps to go. Continuing to move forward, he got alongside Nic Montanari for third at Lap 15, completing the pass, and getting by early race leader Johnny Paradzinski two laps later to move into the runner-up spot. A caution with seven laps to go allowed him to line-up right on Charlie Smith’s bumper for the lead.
Yorke needed every one of those seven remaining laps, trying every which way around Smith as the pair caught the back of the field. He was able to get alongside with a couple laps to go, followed by clearing Smith on the white flag lap heading into turn one. He then cruised back around the 3/8-mile oval to secure his second straight victory of 2017.
Yorke and DY Racing are proud to be supported by Can-Alignment Motorsports, Solex Steel, Partimer Signs, Skytec Rentals, Budget Tire, Scentsy Consultant – Lisa DeLeeuw, and Cabral Racing Promotions.
