Stroud, ON (July 10, 2017)- While Eric Yorke was the first across the finish line at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night, the posted box score will not reflect the result.
The DY Racing driver started off the night well, picking up a runner-up finish in both of his heats.
Starting 17th in the 25-lap feature, he began to make up ground immediately, running 14th as of the first caution on Lap 2. He then continued to move forward, moving up to fifth by the third caution at Lap 4. Restarting inside the top-five, he’d battle side-by-side with Nic Montanari for third, getting the spot before the caution waved once again with 19 laps to go.
Restarting third, he was able to quickly move up into second, remaining there till the caution flew again at Lap 11. He would get a good restart, taking the top spot from Samantha Shaw. From there on, he pulled away from the field, ultimately crossing the finish line first.
Unfortunately, a small infraction in post-race technical inspection resulted in Yorke being stripped of the victory. Yorke and DY Racing have vowed to be back out on the next night of competition, July 22, set to use the disqualification as motivation for more victories this season.
Yorke and DY Racing are proud to be supported by Can-Alignment Motorsports, Solex Steel, Partimer Signs, Skytec Rentals, Budget Tire, Scentsy Consultant – Lisa DeLeeuw, and Cabral Racing Promotions.
