Trois-Rivieres (Québec, Canada), August 11, 2014 – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team have won it all yesterday during “Le 50 tours JuliaWine.com” event on the circuit of the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix, our Grand Prix.
Multiple cautions have punctuated the race and the Trois-Rivières native has led the race brilliantly for the majority of the event. The synergy with Mario Gosselin, crew chief, King Autosport is strong, and it is with great pride that the team has signed its seventh top-5 and second victory of the season, one that’s filled to the brim with emotion and significance for Dumoulin Competition.
“Team chemistry is there, we proved it once again. The strategy we’ve developed has worked: leading one lap and be able to safeguard our tires, fuel, brakes a little more were the most important thing to be able to have a strong presence in the last few laps. We had fun for each and every one of the restarts, Mario [Gosselin] was talking to me and whenever our lead seemed secure, I turned off the engine in certain spots to save some fuel, and we didn’t know what was happening on the track. Everyone was hoping for a restart at the end, I was ready, I knew my car was in good shape,” explains the driver of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare.
“The best team with the best car has won the race yesterday,” shares Mario Gosselin, crew chief, King Autosport. “Until the race is over, there is always a small doubt within us, but I was confident that we had enough fuel to finish the race. It was a complex task to be this fast while saving some fuel, but LP has done a remarkable job in that effect, he drove well and remained calm throughout the whole race.”
“This victory belongs to each and every one of you.”
It is always with a heavy heart that Dumoulin Competition closes out the most important race of the season, the home event. Louis-Philippe and Jean-François Dumoulin celebrate the 45th on-track anniversary of the Dumoulin family successfully by finishing in first and fourth place, respectively. After 45 years, what a pleasure it is to see that the excitement is still so strong in the whole community. Congratulations, once again, to the whole organization, and we are ready for another successful edition next year.
Special mention: The whole Dumoulin Competition team wishes a speedy recovery to Xavier Coupal, the victim of a serious accident that occurred at the end of the race.
“What happened to Xavier is unfortunate and we hope he is doing well. The series puts a lot of emphasis on the security of drivers, it is important for us,” mentions Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
