Toronto, ON, May 14, 2013 – The Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire and Canadian Supercar Series (Supercar) are pleased to announce that Dr. Brad Ferguson has joined the team in the role of Sports Therapist and Chiropractor.

Dr. Brad Ferguson is a native of Amherst, Nova Scotia and graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2012. Dr. Ferguson achieved cum laude and clinic honours designations. Currently, Dr. Ferguson is faculty at CMCC as a Sports Sciences Resident completing training to become a certified Chiropractic Sports Specialist. Prior to attending CMCC, Dr. Ferguson obtained a Bachelor of Science (Biology) Degree from Saint Francis Xavier University in 2008.

Dr. Ferguson has always been a fan of motorsports, with a passion for Formula 1 racing. As a part of his job, he treats athletes of various levels, from the amateur to professional. His on-field experience includes Junior A Hockey, National Level Tae-Kwon-Do, Provincial Level Rugby and World Cup Lacrosse. Dr. Ferguson recognizes the importance of proper health care for the athletic population, both for injury prevention and maximizing performance. He has spent time with several motorsports chiropractors, including Dr. Paul Cheung, who provides care for the Red Bull and Toro Rosso Racing teams in Formula 1. Through this experience he was able to gain understanding of the physical demands placed on racers and witness the benefits of providing manual therapy, exercise advice, sports specific advice and rehabilitation for the drivers, pit crew and mechanics. In his experience, racers are commonly under serviced with respect to the athletic services provided to more mainstream sports.  This is especially true in Canada, as motorsports is still growing.

“This is an exciting new development for CTCC, Supercar and its participants,” stated John Bondar.  “We will have access to support that is normally only available in the highest forms of sport.  We welcome Dr. Ferguson to the team and look forward to working with him this season.”

Dr. Ferguson is thrilled to be offering his services to CTCC and Supercar this season.  Contact information is available on the CTCC and Supercar websites. Dr. Ferguson will also be available onsite at many of the race events.

About CTCC: The Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire is the only truly Canadian professional road racing series and showcases race cars based on their stock street version in three different categories (Classes). The entry-level B-Spec Class is the category for sub-compact cars with stock engines and strictly controlled suspension modifications; Touring Class features cars with minimal engine modifications, while Super Class machines have powerful and heavily modified engines and advanced aerodynamics. All three classes compete at the same time on the track and challenge for supremacy in their class.
