ANGUS, ON – When the first Barrie Speedway green flag of the season drops on May 4th, former track champion Dave Doucette will be ready. The Thunder Car veteran overcame a 2012 season full of challenges, closing his campaign winning the Thunder Car portion of Barrie’s lauded ‘Garry Reynolds Memorial’, before following up with a podium finish at Peterborough Speedway’s historic ‘Autumn Colours Classic.’
“There’s no secret we struggled with this car through the first half of last season, but I feel as though we’ve got it right where we want it heading into 2013”, explained the Angus, ON native. “We had our entire operation working well towards the end of the 2012 season, and with all of the work we’ve completed over the winter; it’s only going to improve.”
With a litany of victories, at speedways across the province, to his credit, Doucette is eagerly anticipating a chance at a second career Thunder Car championship.
“The Barrie Speedway Thunder Car class is one of the best in the province. These guys don’t make it easy on you, if you want to get to victory lane you’re going to have to work for it.”
Doucette’s ‘Xtreme Team’ will once again retain sponsorship support from G.D. Coates Suzuki, Xtreme Auto Service, TSS Top Shops, Paint by Watson and Simcoe Auto Recyclers.
“I feel as though we have some of the best sponsors in the entire sport. They support us 100% and I can’t thank them enough. Our sponsors believe in what we can do, and I’m very much looking forward to giving them a productive 2013 season.”
‘The Deuce’ will run the entirety of Barrie Speedway’s season, and will once again close out his campaign at the Autumn Colours Classic, where he will look to regain the divisional crown he won at the annual mega-event in 2009.
