@bos_speedway • Brockville, ON (September 18, 2016)- The regular season is over and the track championships at Brockville Ontario Speedway have been decided. All that remains on this year’s calendar is the prestigious 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals – Friday and Saturday, October 14th and 15th – at The BOS.
Action gets underway Friday night with the 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Street Stocks starting at 7:00. Big Block Mods are the headline class for Saturday’s schedule, along with the Sportsman Modifieds, Mini Stocks and Outlaw Vintage Mods. Racing will hit the 3/8th of a mile oval on Temperance Lake Road, north of the city at 4:00. Track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland says the motorsports community has been buzzing about this marquee event ever since the season-ending checkered flag was unfurled.
“Drivers from across the province, into Quebec and the States will be here, but our Saturday night regulars are hungry for the win,” admitted Kirkland. “Victories by home track runners at the Northeast Fall Nationals have been few and far between, but this could be the year to change all that. We’ve scheduled a 2-day event that packs nearly the same level of excitement as our crowds see all season. If someone they see every week can walk away with the checkered flag, it’ll be a huge occurrence.”
Kirkland points out that the 2011 and 2013 Sportsman Modified trips to victory lane by Chris Herbison and Shane Pecore’s 2014 win had been the only successes by Brockville regulars at the end of year spectacular until Dylan Evoy – who recently claimed his 3rd track championship – logged a Fall Nationals triumph last year.
A pair of DIRTcar Racing’s biggest names has enjoyed multiple wins over the years. Billy Decker won the Small Block main event in 2010 and 2011, as well as the Big Block headliner in 2013. Danny Johnson grabbed the Big Block win in 2010 and the Small Block honours in 2012. He swept both feature races in 2014.
For the 8th annual edition of the 1000 Islands RV Northeast Fall Nationals – A Craig Revelle Tribute, presented by St. Lawrence Radiology, Rez-X Racing and sponsored by 103.7 BOB-FM, the Brockville Recorder & Times and CKWS-TV – the Friday, October 14th program has the final Mr. DIRTcar championship event for the 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Street Stocks, with a 7:00 green flag. The Saturday, October 15th agenda is headlined by DIRTcar Big Block Mods, the championship final for Sportsman Modifieds, Mini Stocks and Outlaw Vintage Mods. Racing gets underway at 4:00.
