TIVERTON, ON- Scott McTeer’s Sauble Speedway Limited Late Model title defense opened up on May 17th. The 2-time titlist ran within the top-3 all evening, qualifying well, en route to a runner-up finish in the 30-lap feature event.
“This was a good start to our season”, said McTeer. “Obviously, we come to win every Saturday, but a 2nd place finish in which we learned a lot about our setup is pretty hard to be mad at”
The M3 Motorsports entry tallied a pair of top-3 finishes in pre-race qualifying heat action, setting McTeer up for a solid run in the evening’s feature event.
“The car was a little better in the heat races than it was in the feature”, explained McTeer. “When we could get out by ourselves in the heat races, the car was responding the way we need it to. But, we were real inconsistent in the feature. Any time we were in traffic, the car would alternate between tight and loose, which made it a bit of a handful to keep under control”
In addition to the car’s fluctuating handling issues, a power steering problem developed, worsening the car’s response.
“My arms were wore out by the end of the feature”, smiled McTeer. “You really don’t realize how much you love power steering until you don’t have it anymore. We’ll get that problem fixed for Night 2”
“The car tightened up real bad a few laps into the feature, which put us more into a defensive mindset. We were concentrating on hanging on more-so than chasing down the leader. Considering all that we worked through, we’re happy with a runner-up finish”
Scott McTeer’s M3 Motorsports team will return to action on June 14th at Sauble Speedway.
