@TNTSuperSeries •OAKLAND, ONTARIO (December 31, 2015) David Surmatchewski is no stranger to the winner’s circle in sportsman drag racing. The former series champion earned himself 638 points on his way to a third place finish in the 2015 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.
It was his runner-up finish on July 17th at Lancaster that catapulted him from tenth to fourth in the points. He then stayed in the top five for the remainder of the season.
This is Surmatchewski’s eighth time in the top ten and fifth time in the top five in the highly competitive 10.90 series.
Out of Oakland, Ontario the Canadian also earned the title of 2015 Performance Improvements DRIVER OF THE YEAR, lubricated by Royal Purple with an average winning package of .028 seconds.
“I have to thank Alex Schut at Insta-Insulation for years of support as my main sponsor,” said Surmatchewski. “My wife Alyson for her major role in not only supporting our racing but taking care of us when we’re at the track. Thanks to my daughters Marissa and Madison for their support and cheering me on.”
He was quick to mention he also gets help from Dylan, Gary, and Harry. “And I can’t thank Joe Boniferro and Ted Barnes enough for being the driving force behind this series.”
Highlights for Surmatcheski for 2015 include being in the chase for and eventually winning DRIVER OF THE YEAR. “Plus my runner up at Lancaster in TNTSS and then my eventual win outside of the TNTSS at Lancaster after seven runner ups.”
Surmatchewski converted his 83 Cutlass to methanol part way through the season and he is pretty happy with the results. “After struggling out of the gate, we got it figured out and the car is better than ever!”
One of the heaviest cars in 10.90 competition at 3370 lbs, his 1983 Olds Cutlass is powered by a 377 small block Chevrolet that spins upwards of 8000 rpm through the traps.
