June 24, 2013- It was a busy weekend for Danny O’Brien and his race team, with rare appearances at Mohawk Raceway and Cornwall Speedway as well as the usual weekly visit to Brockville Speedway.

Mohawk Raceway was the first stop on the weekend schedule and after starting from the rear of the field in his qualifying heat race Danny moved up to the fourth position before the checkered flag.  In the 25 lap main event, Danny rolled off the starting grid from the 13th position and quickly worked his way forward.  At the halfway point of the race, Danny was inside the top five and continued to battle his way towards the front.  Over the final few circuits, O’Brien made his way to second place and crossed the finish line in that position.

On Saturday night the O’Brien team returned to Brockville Speedway.  They entered the night in third place in track points, and were looking for another solid run.  After struggling in his qualifying heat race with a fourth place finish, he returned to the pit area and made some adjustments to the car, looking to dial it in for the 30 lap main event.  He started from the eighth position and methodically worked his way toward the front of the field.  Before the 10 lap mark, Danny was inside the top five, and continued to press forward.  By lap 14 he made the pass for the lead, and never looked back, picking up his second win of the season at Brockville Speedway.

“I really have to thank all the crew and our sponsors for their support”, says O’Brien from victory lane.  “We have been running well the past few weeks and hopefully we can continue that the rest of the season.  I also want to thank the fans for sticking it out tonight despite the late afternoon rain”.

The O’Brien team traveled to Cornwall Speedway on Sunday night looking for some track time before next weekend’s Canada Day 358 Modified Series race.  Much like the previous two nights, Danny started from the back of his preliminary qualifying race, and moved to fifth before the end of the event.  He started the 30 lap feature from 17th place but didn’t stay there long.  He avoided disaster on a couple occasions, and with a fast racecar it only took O’Brien seven laps to make it into the top five.  By lap 20 it had started raining, and the caution came out to stop the race.  The rain continued to fall, forcing track officials to make the race official after completing more than half of the scheduled distance. O’Brien had made it to second place, and would finish in the runner up position for the second time on the weekend.

This coming weekend, Danny will be at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night, before setting off for a busy Canada Day double header weekend.  On Sunday it will be a 100 lap Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series race followed by a rare Monday event featuring the 358 Modified DIRTcar Series/Canadian Nationals event.
