Delaware, ON – The Great Canadian Race Weekend featured two nights of championship action on September 26-27 at Delaware Speedway. The Castrol Great Canadian 300 saw early drama on Saturday night, with a multi-car wreck collecting the front of the field, leaving title contender Kyle Steckly and NASCAR Canada Series regular D.J. Kennington among those with heavy damage. Jake Sheridan also received some damage while leading.
Josh Stade entered with a slim points lead and ran consistently throughout the race. Shae Gemmell held off J.R. Fitzpatrick to lead during the middle portion of the race, while Sheridan later found his way back to the front. In the end, Gemmell took the top spot after a late restart to win the event for the second time, taking home $15k for the victory. Sheridan and Fitzpatrick rounded out the podium, while Stade finished fourth to clinch the title.
Stade visited victory lane just once, in the season opener, but recorded top-five finishes in all nine races. He’s competed in all 95 events in the series’ 11 seasons and now has his first championship.

Dayco Super Stocks
The 50-lap Dayco Super Stocks championship finale headlined Friday night’s action. Lane Zardo entered with a slim lead over Carson Nagy, but it was Nagy in position to win a third straight title for much of the race. Carson battled with his brother Hudson Nagy for the top spot early, ultimately running towards the front of the field while Zardo raced just outside the top-ten.
The drama came after a late restart, on the final lap, when Nagy was involved in a wreck and did not finish. Zardo ended the night in seventh-place to clinch his second series title, after coming up short to Nagy the last two years. Connor Pritiko recorded the race victory.
