This weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Formerly Mosport International Raceway) St. Thomas, Ontario driver DJ Kennington will be looking for his second consecutive victory at the challenging road course in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge as the Victoria Day SpeedFest weekend presented by Castrol Edge ushers in the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season of competition.

Kennington ended last season with a victory in the final race of the season and looks to keep carry that momentum into this year. “We were very competitive at every race last year” said Kennington. “Over the winter we’ve gone over every bit of the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge and made some improvements and I’m really excited to get the new season started” he added.

The opening event for a new season is always special and can also be important in the success of a team. “With the competition in this series being so tough, it’s important to have a good start to the year, if you get behind early it’s very difficult to catch up” explained Kennington. “I’ve got the best group of people that work with me and they’ve worked really hard to get us ready for the season”.

Another win at this historic track would not only get the season off to a great start but also have special meaning for Kennington. “This is where we got our first series road course win in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge” said the driver. “It would be really nice to get another one, especially with Castrol presenting the event this weekend” he added.

The Victoria Day SpeedFest weekend with the season opening event for the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park begins with practice and qualifying on Saturday May 19th. The race will be at 1:30PM Sunday May 20th. Fans will also be able to see the race on TSN Sunday May 27th at 4:30PM
