Champions
The championship battle between Matt Gauthier and Owen Clarke came down to the final race of the weekend. Gauthier entered the event with a slim points lead, though Clarke was essentially the leader when factoring in the rule that each driver’s worst finish is automatically dropped.
Clarke won the first six races of the season, before Gauthier made it five straight victories through the opening rounds of the Celebration of Motorsport.
Gauthier wrecked after contact from Clarke and didn’t finish race three, while Clarke made the decision to pull onto pit road to forfeit his position (a penalty was later issued as well). Despite the eventful finish, it was a close battle all season between the duo, who locked up the top-two spots in 10 of 12 races.
Gauthier (MCC1) and Ron Rhead (MCCU) were crowned champions.
