PETERBOROUGH, ON (July 11, 2018)- Its been said that there is a first time for everything and that statement has never been as true as it will be this weekend, with the inaugural running of the Canadian Legend Car Nationals, sanctioned by the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series. Friday and Saturday – July 13 and 14 – the top names in Legends racing will find their way to Kawartha Downs and Speedway, as well as Peterborough Speedway for a marquee event. Spokesperson Andrew McFadden – who along with Jeff Drimmie and Kevin Foisy make up the Ontario Legends group of officials – says everyone is looking forward to putting together a memorable racing experience.
“We have some very talented racers running within our Eastern and Western Regions, but this weekend has the potential to draw the cream of the Legends Racing crop to the area,” McFadden said. “They’ll all be looking for the chance to become the inaugural Canadian Legend Car Nationals champion. It wouldn’t be a huge shock to see the first ‘B’ main in our history. There is also the potential for other last chance qualifiers, just to make the 35 lap feature on either or both nights.”
The Friday the 13 show at Kawartha will also include the OSCAAR Modifieds, Hot Rods and an invitational event for the provincial Bone Stock racers; while the next night at Peterborough, the Canadian Legend Car Nationals will share the stage with the home track Bone Stock, Mini Stock and Late Model divisions. McFadden says the tour’s promotional team has been working hard to add some contingency awards and extra cash payouts to the two day spectacular.
“$4,000 is up for grabs for the overall winner. But that prize grows to $8,000 if the same driver can take the checkered flag at both weekend events,” McFadden said. “Plus, the overall event winner and a crew member will receive paid entry fees for the driver and a crew member at the 2018 finals in Las Vegas. A whopping $29,000 will be shared between the top 30 teams in event points and every car in attendance is guaranteed at minimum of $100.”
