From Russ Bond: The Canadian Karting League (CKL) will hold an Open House on Sunday, April 8 at the Innisfil Kart Track. The Open House will last all day, so drop by anytime. There will be special sales that day, including (hopefully!) the new Snell-approved helmets which have been ordered.
SUIT SALE — FOR THE OPEN HOUSE DAY ONLY. ALL REMAINING SUIT STOCK WILL BE SOLD OFF AT $99 (PLUS HST). If you think you might have grown a bit over the winter try on your suit and if it fits — great. If it doesn’t, come see us on April 6.
Of course we opted to start a little later this year, now the weather is nice….go figure. Pro Series drivers, the track is now open for practice, so if you want to come up and get ready for the season, come on up. I will not be there this week as we are at a show from Wed-Sun, but we hope to have someone there on Saturday and Sunday if the weather is nice. You know the drill — call or email me if you have questions.
kartSTART renewed for 2012: I am happy to announce that Toyota Canada Inc. has renewed their sponsorship of our kartSTART program for 2012. Toyota is a great corporate partner and we are happy to have them back. In addition, kartSTART will travel to St.Eustache, Quebec on July 10-12.
kartSTART is the CKL’s one day karting experience program that puts drivers in karts in the morning, then in the afternoon demonstrates the Toyota Star Safety System. Visit www.kartSTART.ca for more information, or www.toyota.ca for more information on the Toyota Star Safety System.
Our kartSTART booth will be at the Toronto Sportsman show as part of the Toyota display this week from Mar 14-18. Please stop by and fill out an application to win a family 4-pack to a kartSTART event in 2012 (a $400 value).
Shifter update: Some good news and some bad news….the bad news is that Honda (our source for engines) has declined to support this program at the present time. The good news is that there is a new option to funding the shifters on the horizon. At the recent Canadian Motorsport Expo — where the shifter was on display — there was a lot of interest, and we have to get them built. Several potential investors approached us about them, and we are working on that now.
DRAGONS DEN: On Wednesday, March 14, we will be taking the F4i Shifter to the Oshawa auditions for Dragon’s Den. The show has a special show coming up that has Shell backing for the best environmental idea, and as the shifter will run just fine on Shell products, we’re taking it.
The audition is not in front of the Dragons — thank god — it is for the producers of the show. Based on how bad I manage to mess up the audition we’ll know if we make it on the show or not. If we do — fingers crossed — we will get to go back and tape a segment for the show.
If that happens, I want every member that is interested in the shifter to come to the taping — in your suit — there is strength in numbers. In addition, count on a big CKL party the night of the airing of the show — that way you can all make fun of me at the same time……
Thanks for all your support, and remember to sign up online for your 2012 membership. We will call you for credit card information and for new members schedule your training day.
As always, if you have questions, comments or just want to rant in general, call me at 416-312-2900 or email a r.bond@russbondagency.com
