@MotoramaShow • #mopar • #TORONTO , ON • Canadian drag racing legend John Petrie and several members of his John Petrie Canadian Racing Team will have a major presence at the upcoming Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo.

In addition to a display that will feature one of Petrie’s classic racing vehicles – his 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger SS/DA Championship car – and a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on display courtesy of FCA, the booth will also include photos and memorabilia from Petrie’s racing days.

As well, Petrie (in red shirt, at right, with John Waldie) will be available at various times during the show to meet with racing fans, sign autographs and discuss his career in drag racing and as a corporate ambassador for Chrysler Canada.

The Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo takes place March 13, 14 & 15 at Toronto’s International Centre, across from Pearson International Airport.

Known simply as Canada’s ‘Mr. MOPAR,’ from the ’60s and into the early ’70s, Petrie was the only Canadian to win a Pro Stock Championship in Division 1 (Land of NED). Petrie’s 180 career victories and his NHRA Winter Nationals Pro Stock Semi Final finish are a tribute to his stature and achievements in the North American drag racing industry.

In addition to being respected for his on-track successes, Petrie is also well-known by race fans throughout Canada for his contributions to growing drag racing into what it is today.

Petrie was recently nominated for entry into the prestigious Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame. As head of John Petrie Racing, Canada’s Mr. MOPAR is still one of the most honoured and respected personalities in Canadian drag racing.

“I am really looking forward to coming back to Toronto and meeting a bunch of old and new fans at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsport Expo,” said Petrie. “A lot of people will know that my first Canadian National win, in 1965 at Mohawk Dragway, was huge. It’ll be fun to talk with the fans and sign autographs. My team and I are looking forward to seeing everybody all three days at Motorama. We’ll be in Booth #111 with our new 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic Signature Series collection car, in the original John Petrie Super Car Clinic colours. Also visit us at Booth #140 in Hall #1 to preview the new 2015 Hellcat and see our 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Super stock race car.”

The inaugural Motorama show takes place March 13, 14 & 15, 2015 at Toronto’s International Centre, adjacent to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. With a footprint of almost a quarter-million square feet, the show will be Canada’s biggest late-winter celebration of automobiles and motorsports.
