(BOWMANVILLE, Ont. – Sept. 1, 2017) Canada’s biggest NASCAR Event of the Year is underway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The checkered flag flew late Friday afternoon to close out the first day of action at the Chevrolet Silverado 250 weekend. Running through Sunday, the weekend features NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series as well as the Canadian-based NASCAR Pinty’s Series and the Total Quartz 200.
Friday’s action saw Brampton, Ontario’s Bob Attrell in the No. 88 Hyundai Racing Canada Hyundai Genesis Coupe take the overall GT Sport win in the Canadian Touring Car Championship Round 11 race, while Tsawwassen, British Columbia’s Scott Hargrove in the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports/Castrol entry won overall in the IMSA Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama race.
Saturday’s on-track action will feature qualifying for both the NASCAR Camping World Truck and Pinty’s Series. Family-friendly off-track activities including music in the Canadian Tire Action Zone with the Jade Eagleson Band, 2017 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist winner, as well as fire works on Saturday night are scheduled. Racing from the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama, the Canadian Touring Car Championship, and the Nissan Micra Cup will also run on Saturday.
