Stroud, ON (July 6, 2017)- Despite experiencing brake issues with 10 laps to go in the feature, Cameron McGlashan was still able to cross the finish line with a top-10 finish.
McGlashan started off the night solidly, finishing third in the first heat, followed by a fourth in his second qualifier.
Starting mid-pack for the feature, he began to make up ground immediately, going three-wide for fourth with just five laps on the board. He got the spot a lap later, moving past Eric Rainey to move up into third. He was unable to catch the pair of leaders ahead of him, battling side-by-side with Charlie Smith for third and holding him off. He then battled side-by-side with eventual race runner-up Daniel Montanari for third through the middle portion of the feature, eventually dropping back to fourth by Lap 14. He would run fourth for awhile, before battling side-by-side with Charlie Smith with just five laps to go.
With the brakes fading, though, he’d drop back a couple positions, eventually crossing the finish line in the seventh position.
For McGlashan, it continues his streak of finishes no outside of the top-10 in 2017. He currently sits fifth in points, 37 markers behind leader Eric Yorke. He has also moved up to 11th in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Division III standings, just three points outside of the top-10. He will look to keep the momentum going on July 8 at Sunset Speedway.
