Brockville, ON- A huge field of cars were on hand for the annual Monster Enduro at the Brockville Speedway this past Sunday Afternoon as over 100 cars packed the pit area for a great day of racing.
In the 25 lap Ladies Enduro it was all about Laura Mackinnon as she rocketed out in front of the 11 car field and would remain at the head of the class for every lap of the 25 lap event. Mackinnon took the win over Melissa Brown who won the ladies enduro the previous Sunday at Cornwall while Melissa Prodnick came home in the 3rd spot.
Next up was the 4&6 Cylinder enduro with 66 cars taking to the track. The race was slowed by 3 red flags but it did not stop the charge of former Rookie Champion Jean Marc Larose. After 2 Rookie titles in 2011 and 2012 Larose came back to Brockville and dominated the largest field of the day on route to the big win. Current Brockville Speedway Rookie competitor Tyson Slinger finished 2nd with Brock Lama rounding out the top 3.
In the 100 lap 8 Cylinder Enduro the race was flat out dominated by Bryan Scharfe driving a 4 cylinder car. Scharfe had things going his way until with 3 laps to go he slowed in turn 3. Scharfe’s machine had run out of fuel leaving the lead to Terry McClelland who had a series of adventures throughout the event including being hung up on the banking in turns 1 and 2 for over 5 laps. McClelland would rally back to record the win over Gilles Melanson and Bryan Scharfe had just enough laps completed to finish in the 3rd position at the checkers. Kyle Cybulski had the most spectacular moment of the race as he flipped several times off Turn 1 but was able to climb out uninjured.
