SAUBLE BEACH, ON- After a frustrating outing at Sunset Speedway on July 26th, Brittney Gresel is hoping to turn her program around with a pair of full points paying Super Series events on August 2nd and 3rd.
“Last weekend was about as frustrated as I’ve been in a racecar all season”, explains Gresel from her Sauble Beach, ON shop.
“We took some damage the week before that we had missed, and it pretty much derailed our night. We had a number of bent parts in the front suspension, and trying to drive with them felt like we were swimming against a current. We were like a bird without feathers”
Gresel – along with Crew Chief Brandon Johnston – made a litany of repairs to the RE/MAX of Grey Bruce No. 81, with hopes of making up some ground in the Ltd. Late Model championship standings.
“After the weekend we had, I think this is the perfect opportunity to get our program pointed in the right direction”, says Gresel.
“The car is healthy again, and we’ve got two shows this weekend to pick up some points. The standings are so tight right now, a strong weekend can really go a long way”
Gresel enters the weekend 9th in the standings, but finds herself just 17 points away from the top-5.
“If we could get closer to the top-5 than we are right now, I would consider it a huge success”, says Gresel. “There’s so much talent in this division, just being in the top-10 makes you feel as though you’ve accomplished something”
Both 50-lap events this weekend will count toward Sunset Speedway Super Series points. Gate times and ticket prices for Saturday and Sunday’s events can be found at www.SunsetSpeedway.ca.
Brittney’s 2014 season is made possible thanks Sauble Falls Tent & Trailer Park, Brittney’s Hair Studio, RE/MAX of Grey Bruce, Spira Fire Protection and Brandon’s Landscapes.
