@BrightonSpdwy • @MonsterEnergy • BRIGHTON (April 30, 2015) – Brighton Speedway is undergoing final preparations for its 48th season opener on Saturday, May 2 presented by Monster Energy and Kellogg’s Belleville. It will have been 224 days since the last checkered flag fell on the Applefest Shootout weekend when the first race of the 2015 season hits the track.
Kellogg’s cereals mascots Tony the Tiger and Toucan Sam will be at the track along with the Monster Energy promotional girls.
Fans will be treated to a full racing schedule for just $2 admission with the donation of a non-perishable food item to the Brighton Fare Share Food Bank. Children 6-years-old and under are always free.
The Vanderlaan Building Products RUSH Pro Late Models, OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, and Bill’s Johns Comp 4s will all be in action on opening night.
Spectator gates will open at 5:30pm. The first hot laps are scheduled to hit the track at 6:00pm with the first green flag of the season on tap at 7:00pm.
Off-Season Improvements: Brighton Speedway has undergone a handful of changes over the cold and oftentimes bitter off-season. Over 150 truck loads of clay were added to the racing surface for the upcoming season. The frontstretch wall from the flag stand to turn one has been updated and replaced as well as a new wall in turn four.
Fans will also notice changes at the concession stands. The number of fryers at each concession stand has doubled along with additional grills to help serve customers faster. The Brighton staff is also examining the way customers are served and looking to make changes in order to reduce wait times at the concession stands.
Although it is not yet in place, a new turn one grandstand will be installed and operational in mid-June. The additional seating will give fans more room throughout the grandstand.
There are plenty of other projects in the works, but many have not been completed due to a late spring.
“We’ve made all of these changes with our dedicated fans in mind,” said track owner/promoter Mark Rinaldi. “We improved the race track to help make our already entertaining racing even more exciting. The changes to our concession stands will help serve customers faster and reduce line-ups.”
As always, fans are encouraged to give their feedback at any time via email at www.brightonspeedway.com.
