NEW HAMBURG, ON- Following impressive performances at Ransomville and Humberstone in recent weeks, Jerrid Morphy Racing – and driver Ryan Susice – will be back in action this weekend when the Southern Ontario Sprints invade Brighton Speedway for the annual Labour Day Classic.
“I’ve never raced at Brighton before, so this is going to be a learning experience for this whole team,” says Susice. “From what I’ve been told, it drives similar to Humberstone, so we might use that setup as a baseline and go from there. This team has been great at adapting in the two races we’ve had this car on track, and this weekend shouldn’t be any different”
Susice tallied an 11th place finish in his most recent Southern Ontario Sprints outing at Humberstone Speedway on August 9th, and is quick to praise the talent that follows the tour across Ontario.
“It’s a blast racing with the Southern Ontario Sprints. There’s a lot of talent on this tour, and a lot of teams that takes their programs very seriously,” explains the New York-based hotshoe. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a Modified or a Sprint Car, if you’re racing with guys that respect your equipment as much as they respect their own, you’re going to have a good time”
“We’ve improved every time we’ve been on the track so far,” continues Susice. “Every hot lap session, heat race and feature feels a little more natural. We’re debuting our new ride this weekend, which is just about as exciting as it gets. I’m looking forward to seeing how much more knowledge we can pick up over the next two days”
In addition to debuting a new car this weekend, Susice will also be entering the event fresh off of securing his first career Ransomville Speedway 358 Modified championship, adding to his collection of championships earned at the Go-Kart, Street Stock and Sportsman Modified level.
“Winning a Modified championship at Ransomville was an absolute dream come true,” beams the Ransomville native.
“I remember going there as a little kid and just wanting to share the same track as some of the guys we were able to beat this season,” adds the charismatic champion. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. I can’t think of any better motivation for this weekend than trying to keep our momentum up”
“I could never begin to thank Jerrid enough for the opportunity that he’s given me with this program. He’s just about the nicest guy I’ve ever had the chance to be around, and hopefully we can go out and give him something to smile about this weekend.”
