Brighton, ON- The 2013 season will get off to an exciting start this weekend as the stars and cars of the Brighton Speedway take to fast 1/3rd mile oval this Saturday for the first time to start their quest for a championship title.
More than 80 cars took part in the two day practice this past weekend and the newly resurfaced track got rave reviews.
“We would like to thank Dibbits Excavating for putting on close to 300 loads of clay last fall, it has all come together nicely and the track held up great this past weekend” stated track promoter Mark Rinaldi. “With a number of other renovations and facility facelifts we are geared to making the experience for the fans and drivers that much better each and every week”.
It all starts this Saturday afternoon at 3pm when the drivers hit the streets of downtown Brighton for the Parade of Champions in support of the Brighton Fare Share Food Bank.
“We would really like to thank the town of Brighton for hosting such a great event, I can’t think of a better way to kick off the season! Parade organizers Phil and Kimberly Leadbeater have put a lot of time and effort into this and it really shows.”
Fans are encouraged to line the streets of down town Brighton and bring nonperishable food donations for the food bank, there will be people walking and collecting the food throughout the parade.
From the streets to the DIRT the drivers will load up their cars and head to the track for the Monster Energy Drink Season Opener where fans get admission for just $2 with a donation to the food bank. Fans will want to get here early to get a seat as this event is always a packed house. Last year between the parade and opening night almost 3000lbs of food and over $1000.00 in cash donations was raised in support of the food bank.
“We are really hoping to top that this year!
Brighton Speedways Fab Four weekly divisions will be on hand; these include the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Late Models, OilGard Anti Rust Canadian Modifieds, Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks and the Bill’s Johns Comp 4 Divisions.
“If Practice was any indication we are expecting great car counts in all divisions for 2013”
On Saturday the ticket gates open at 5pm and racing will start at 7pm sharp!
