STAYNER, ON – 2012 OSCAAR Super Late Model tour champion Brandon Watson has announced that his family-run operation will be heading to the lauded Snowball Derby at 5 Flags Speedway. The Super Late Model event, often referred to as the most prestigious of its kind, runs from November 28th to December 2nd.
“This is something our whole team has dreamed of doing for a long time. After the incredible season we had, winning our first OSCAAR tour championship, the time just felt right,” explained Watson, who was officially crowned as the youngest champion in tour history at the 20th annual Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway on October 7th.
The Stayner, ON teenager has acquired the same Hamke Racing chassis that current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Cale Gale sat on the pole with at the 2010 running of the race.

“We feel as though we have a proven chassis that’s going to allow us to compete with some of the big names down there,” continued Watson. “I’m also really excited to have Brian MacDonald working with us in the role of Crew Chief.”
The $22,500.00 to win, 300-lap mega-event routinely draws the biggest names from around the short track world, with competitors hauling from across the continent to take their shot at infamy.
Past winners include Donnie Allison, Darrell Waltrip, Butch Miller, Rich Bickle, Ted Musgrave, Wayne Anderson, Augie Grill, Kyle Busch and Johanna Long. Second-generation phenom Chase Elliott is the defending Snowball Derby winner.
Watson’s efforts will be supported by Royal Distributing, Shear Metal Products, The Smart Exchange – Propane Cylinder Exchange, Barrie Frame & Allignment and Knightworks Design.
The team is actively seeking additional sponsorship for their Derby debut, and can be contacted through the official Brandon Watson website www.BrandonWatsonRacing.com.
