ELGINBURG, ON (July 9, 2022)- Once they’ve added a track championship to their resume, some local racers make clinching another crown their sole focus. Reigning Brockville Ontario Speedway Sportsman-Modified champ Bobby Herrington doesn’t fit that mold. He’s taking things as they come during his 2022 campaign.

“We have had good speed almost every time out, just lacking a bit on luck,” explained the Elginburg, Ontario racer. “Last year it seemed like everything went right, whereas this year has been a struggle by times. The plus side to that is we’ve had the opportunity to experiment with the car a bit and I think we have a better notebook to work with because of that. We are just taking things race by race and trying to enjoy the ride a bit. As a team we want to win races of course but when things don’t go our way its nice having a group that stands behind me no matter what.”

Now that the summer is here, the No. 88z team has the opportunity to run some extra shows in addition to its regular Saturday night dates at Brockville. They’re planning a pair of trips to Cornwall Motor Speedway this month for the Race for the Cure shows. In addition to possibly adding some mid-week or special events to his schedule, Herrington has also confirmed that there will be some changes in his personal life, as he and his wife Amber have announced news that they’re expecting the arrival of their second child before the end of the season.

Approaching the halfway mark of the line-up, Bobby Herrington is having a strong year at The BOS. He has scored a pair of main event wins and a handful of top five finishes in seven starts, while leading the point standings with 51-point margin over the two drivers tied for second place. The driver says he believes their program is strong enough to be a contender, wherever they race.

“Dan and the crew give me a strong piece everywhere we run. There is still a very long way to go and we have to be fully prepared because things can change in a hurry at this level of the sport,” Bobby Herrington said. “I want to thank the sponsorship partners who have supported this team over the last couple of years, as well as my family, friends and fan who’ve offered their help and encouragement for the No. 88z program at home and on the road.”
