Elginburg, ON (November 21, 2017)- With his TEO Pro Car Small Block Modified racing machine stripped-down to its bare bones, Bobby Herrington took a break from the early stages of the winter rebuild at the team’s shop in Elginburg, Ontario to look back on a strong year on the DIRTcar circuit.
At 26 years of age, the graduate of karting and Sportsman-Modified ranks headed into the campaign with a renewed sense of enthusiasm. His team managed a pair of main event wins, including a checkered flag on the final night of the regular season, as well as several top five and top 10 finishes in 14 starts. He says it was a great year that was capped-off with a runner-up point finish, just 9 markers out of the championship.
“From the very first green flag of the year, I had a good feeling about our program for 2017,” Bobby Herrington said. “It was our second season with the TEO chassis and with a full notebook of set-up information to draw from, I thought we had a car that could make it to victory lane every time and every where we raced.”
On the weekly racing circuit, consistency is always the key to a solid performance and the Herrington Motorsports team had a great year. Whether chasing home track points on Saturday or on the road where a pair of late-race flat tires derailed excellent runs in extra-distance special events at Cornwall Motor Speedway, the #25 machine was one of the strongest cars in the pit area.
“Because of track handicapping based on previous finishes we usually started around 15th at our weekly events,” according to the driver. “With only 30 laps to get to the front of the pack, you need to make sure you’re ready to go when you roll the car off the hauler. The crew did some great work in the shop and at the track to give me the equipment it took to do the job.”
Once their regular schedule wrapped-up, the team logged a third place effort at Brighton Speedway’s annual Applefest Shootout. Up next, the Herrington Motorsports squad hit the road for a pair of satellite events in Central New York during Super Dirt Week. Running on the unfamiliar layouts at Utica-Rome and Brewerton Speedways, Bobby Herrington was able to crack the main event starting line-ups after advancing through his heat race. Each show had an average of 50 teams, looking for one of 30 spots in the feature race.
As they make plans for the 2018 season, Bobby Herrington and his team would like to thank TEAM, Osprey Stables, Stover Bus Lines, Jensen Building Ltd., Amherst Roofing & Sheet Metal, Bernier General Contractors, Garland, DML Mechanical, Bill Wilman, SHEA Construction, Davidson Log Homes & Timber Artisans, Corcoran Excavating, Leisure Days RV – Kingston, ECO Comfort Spray Foam, Marty Stover Financial, Napanee Family First Chiropractic, R.
