INNISFIL (ON) (May 03, 2019)– Danny Benedict hopes to kick off the 2019 season at Sunset Speedway (ON) the same way he started his break out year of 2018. After taking home a checkered flag on opening night of 2018, Benedict hopes that is an indication of how his Saturday night will go.
Benedict’s home track opening night was rescheduled from April 27th to May 4th2019 due to poor weather. Giving Benedict an extra week to prepare his Limited Late Model wil be helpful for the young racer.
“Although we were ready to run opening night it’s always nice to have a little bit more extra time to prep the car. I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel this season, and hopefully recreate the success we had last year.”
After a very successful season during 2018, Benedict Is hoping to continue growing his racing program into 2019. Including the APC Unite Late Model Tour into his schedule of races this year will be a big step up for the family run team.
“Running the APC series will be a great learning experience and I’m really glad there is such a great talent pool I get to race with. Between the Limited at Sunset and the Pro Late with APC we will have a busy season, but a great one.”
Last year Benedict won on opening night at Sunset Speedway, and he’s planning on doing it again.
“We have a really great long run car, which makes me extra excited to open the season with a 50-lap feature. We’re also running heat races instead of qualifying which should be interesting. We have a pretty large field this year, it will be awesome to see all of the competition that hits the track.”
With confidence in himself as well as his team, the Kawartha Lakes Native is ready for this weekend’s opening night at Sunset Speedway.
