Trois-Rivieres, Que. August 11, 2013- Ron Beauchamp Jr. muscled his way through an aggressive field of drivers on Sunday at the JuliaWine.com 100.
Beauchamp and his team didn’t get a chance to fine tune the Mopar/Exide/Pennzoil Dodge though practice, and their lack of preparation showed in a 19th qualifying result.
“It seemed every time we came into the pits to adjust the car the track was green, and when we went back out we had a yellow,” Beauchamp explained.
Beauchamp shook off the disappointing qualifying for the race, and was able to begin to collect spots in the early going.
Drivers were very aggressive at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres, and there was lots of bumping on the track. Beauchamp fell victim to the rough racing, and was hit by #16, causing damage to the body work.
The crew of the #60 Challenger worked to fix the body of the Mopar/Exide/Pennzoil Dodge, and benefited from a free pass to get Beauchamp back on the lead lap.
Beauchamp was unable to get back into a groove before facing another setback, getting turned around by another driver.
The #60 eventually finished in 18th place.
“It’s frustrating to work so hard and run for the championship with guys running one race getting too aggressive,” Beauchamp said later. “We were on our way to a decent points day but it didn’t play out how we would’ve liked.”
Despite not gaining any points in today’s race, Beauchamp holds on to seventh place in the overall championship
