August 11, 2013- Sherwood Park, Alberta’s Noel Dowler and the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge looked to continue their momentum in Quebec during round number eight of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres.  It would prove to be a tough weekend for Dowler and the team who persevered to grab valuable championship points.

Practice for the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge team came to an end early as Dowler arrived at pit lane without power.  A quick examination showed a terminal motor problem that would have the team working quickly to make the change before qualifying.

“Definitely not the way to start the weekend” said Dowler.  “But got to it right away and had the swap done before qualifying.”

During the qualifying session Dowler hoped for the best since they were without any practice time due to the engine failure.  The #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge driver would claim the 20th starting position.

“Not bad considering we had no practice” said Dowler.

In the race it quickly became clear that this was going to be a street fight.

“It was pretty crazy out there” said Dowler.  “Everybody was just going for it and it was a really rough race”.

The #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge driver used his skill to avoid trouble as best he could and look for ways to improve his position.  Showing maturity and talent Dowler would avoid the many incidents during the 42 lap event to bring the car home in one piece and claim a 16th place result.

“Well, we survived” was the way Dowler summed up the afternoon. “It was a tough race, we had the setback right away with the motor, but I’ve got to give this team a lot of credit for the great job they did this weekend.  The points we picked up were because of their hard work”.

After eight events Noel Dowler is ninth in the overall championship standings.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series consists of 12 events from coast to coast in Canada.  The next event takes place August 17 at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish, NS.  For more information about Noel Dowler and the #5 EMCO Dodge/Rheem team log onto www.apollomotorsports.ca and follow him on twitter, @noeldowler.
