Mirabel (Québec), July 7, 2013.– Quebec drivers Mathieu and Rémy Audette claimed this weekend’s two Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) races, presented as part of the (Jiffy Lube 100) Grand Prix de Mirabel. At the wheel of his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX, Mathieu Audette won Saturday’s race while on Sunday, his younger brother Rémy drove his Dimensions Doors/Novatech Honda Civic Si to victory just ahead of Mathieu to claim the Audette Racing Team’s first ever one-two finish.

For Mathieu and Rémy Audette, the 2013 edition of the Grand Prix de Mirabel will forever be etched in their minds as everything was smiling down on them all weekend long, excluding one little surprise for Rémy during Saturday’s race.

“I qualified in pole position, my start was perfect, and I dominated the race up until the point where I ran out of fuel five laps from the end,” he confides.

Sitting in second place behind his brother when the problem occurred, Mathieu Audette inherited the lead and eventually finished two seconds ahead of Ontarian Scott Nicol.

“Winning this first race in 2013 is incredible!  I’m disappointed that we weren’t able to claim first and second spots on Saturday as it was aligned, but I’m really happy that we were able to earn the victory with our “old faithful” Acura,” indicated Mathieu Audette.

The second round of the weekend did not endure the same ups and downs. The two Audette Racing drivers both had a great start with Rémy starting in pole position and Mathieu starting in third spot.  By the end of the first lap, Mathieu had climbed to second place and the top of the leader board did not vary from that time to when they crossed the finish line. Rémy Audette finished five seconds ahead of Mathieu, who finished approximately thirty seconds ahead of the third place car.

“Our Dimensions Doors/Novatech Honda Civic Si was going super well. At the start of the second race, I was a little worried about the heat but everything went fine. My brother was nipping at my heels at the beginning, which put a little pressure on me, but it was fun. I’m really very happy with our one-two finish; it’s history-making for the Audette Racing Team and everybody worked really hard to earn it,” mentions Rémy.

Rémy Audette admitted before the weekend that the Circuit ICAR track wasn’t his favourite but things quickly changed after this kind of result. :

“It’s really a fun course, especially when we win like this !,” he concludes.

Mathieu Audette also walks away with an extremely positive summary of his return to competition.

“A first and a second place finish is excellent. The Dimensions Doors/Novatech Acura RSX did really well and after winning on Saturday, I also had another great race on Sunday. For me, that’s 100% positive,” summarized Mathieu, who, like Rémy, will be back on the track at Mont-Tremblant at the end of the month for the seventh and eighth rounds of the 2013 CTCC.

The Audette Racing Team benefits from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, JSA, Robover, Sturtz, Milette Portes, Mec-Inov, Soniplastics and Omnitech.
