August 26, 2013- The 2013 racing season is quickly reaching the end, and after having some strong runs this season, Ryan Arbuthnot and the Arbuthnot Racing team were looking to continue their impressive rookie season.  The team competed at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, and on to Brockville Speedway on Saturday night.

At Mohawk Raceway, Ryan finished third in his qualifying heat race, and returned to the pit area for some adjustments before returning to the track later in the evening for the 25 lap feature.  Starting from fifth, Arbuthnot was hoping for a strong night, but as the green flag dropped, the handling on the car was just a little bit off, and started to drop back through the field.  At the checkered flag, Ryan crossed the finish line in 12th place.

“This track is just so fast, and the competition is very strong”, says Arbuthnot.  “We have some work to do to try and figure this place out before next year”.

The action continued at Brockville Speedway on Saturday night.  A win in the qualifying heat race was just the start of a very special night.  He started on the outside of the front row for the 30 lap main event, and jumped out to the lead.  Ryan had built up a sizeable advantage, but successive cautions on lap 19 and 20 slowed the field, leaving 10 laps to go.  Arbuthnot continued to lead through the final laps and scored his first ever 358 Modified feature win.

“I really have to thank the crew and all of our sponsors”, says Arbuthnot from victory lane.  “It takes a lot of hard work to win at this level, and I am really happy to get to victory lane in our first year”.

This coming weekend will be busy for the Arbuthnot team, as Brockville Speedway hosts their regular season finale on Saturday night featuring a 50 lap Ogilvie’s Auto Triple Crown Series race.  On Sunday night, Cornwall Speedway hosts their finale with a 125 lap Mr. DIRTcar 358 Modified Series Race/Canadian Nationals Series Race.  This will conclude the regular season.  Following this weekend, Ryan will continue to follow the Mr. DIRTcar series, with events coming up at Autodrome Drummond, Mohawk Raceway, RPM Speedway and Brighton Speedway through September, leading into October’s Super DIRT Week and 1000 Islands RV DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals.

Arbuthnot Racing would like to thank Bob East (Crew Chief), Tyler Lambert, Krystyn, Dad (Steve), Susie and Grandfather (Ron) for all their hard work and support as well as sponsors Valley Sales and Equipment, Pirie Insulation, 1000 Islands RV, Welch LLP, Finnigan’s Road House, Engine Research, Axcel Sports, Valken Racing, Finish Line Web Design, Number One Speed Shock Service and Bicknell Racing Products.
