PETERBOROUGH, ON- OSCAAR Super Late Model point leader Andrew Gresel earned his second straight tour victory on August 2nd, laying claim to Round 7 of the tour at Peterborough Speedway to further distance himself from his closest pursuers in the race for the 2014 tour championship.
“Man this car was good tonight”, beamed Gresel post-race, “I can’t say enough about my guys. This team has been on a roll these last two races. They give me incredible cars. I’m just the lucky one that gets to drive them”
The victory marked Gresel’s second-straight trip to OSCAAR victory lane – after dominating Round 6 of the tour at Sauble Speedway on July 27th.
“We’ve been getting better every race”, continued Gresel. “Every time we back this car out of the trailer, it feels faster than it did the week before”
The second-generation star bided his time at Peterborough, working his way into contention before taking the lead with less than 15-laps to go.
“I’ve learned the hard way how important it is to save your stuff at Peterborough”, smiled the championship contender. “We had something for these guys right from lap-1, I just wanted to make sure we had enough at the end”
With two straight wins, Gresel now heads towards Round 8 of the OSCAAR Super Late Model Tour at Kawartha Speedway on August 10th.
“I love Kawartha. If I had to pick a favourite speedway on the tour, it would definitely be it”, said Gresel. “We won there in June, and hope to implement the exact same strategy this Sunday. We’re really not even thinking about the points and the championship, we just want to win as many races as we can”
