HEPWORTH, ON- Following Kawartha Speedway triumphs in his last two appearances, OSCAAR point leader Andrew Gresel heads for Round 6 of the Super Late Model tour on July 13th with hopes of continuing his winning streak.
“This whole team loves going to Kawartha”, smiles Gresel, “this is a ‘big track’ car. Something about long straightaways and big corners just wakes this car right up”
The Sauble Falls Racing representative is hoping to rebound after being kept off the podium at Sunset Speedway in Rounds 4 & 5 of the tour.
“We had a good car at Sunset, but just weren’t able to get to the top-3”, admits Gresel. “Kawartha is the perfect place for us to bounce back and remind ourselves what we’re capable of. It’s where we do our best work. I’ve been counting the days until we unload there”
Gresel will enter Round 6 of the tour with a slim lead over fellow sophomore competitor Kevin Cornelius, as the race to the 2014 championship begins to intensify.
“I’m still not worrying much about the points. There’s still a lot of season still to be played out. Right now, we’re focused on winning week-to-week, the points will take care of themselves if we can put up the same numbers we did in the first half of the season”
“We haven’t finished outside of the top-5 this season, and I see no reason why we can’t keep that going through the next 7 races”
Gate times and ticker prices for Sunday, July 13th’s event can be found at www.OSCAAR.ca.
