Toronto, July 4th, 2012 – Mont-Tremblant is known as a challenging track for drivers and this weekend, the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire will compete on this historic circuit for the first time.
Rounds 7 & 8 will be conduct over a three-day event. Competitors will be on the track beginning Friday with two practice sessions. Saturday morning, a qualifying session will start the day at 9:00 am to prepare for Round 7 at 12:45 pm the same day. Drivers will be back for a warm-up session on Sunday morning at 9:00 am, getting ready to compete for Round 8 of the Championship again in the early after-noon at 12:45 am. Tickets to attend this event are available at www.lecircuit.com
These two Rounds will mark the halfway point of CTCC’s event calendar for 2012. Racing at Circuit Mont-Tremblant will be new for some of the competitors but will be a very comfortable race track for several Quebec drivers and it should be a clear advantage for them. Amongst the 37 race cars that compose the field this weekend, a few new drivers are expected. Karl Wittmer will be competing against his brother Nick in B-Spec Class, driving the #26 Mazda2. Also in B-Spec Class, Remy Audette will get behind the wheel of the #17 Honda Fit, usually driven by Simon Dion-Viens. Andre Rapone will also be in a different car as he will be racing in the #33 Honda Fit. In Touring Class, we see some changes as Daniel Blanchette gets behind the wheel of the #98 Honda Civic Si for the first time this season. P.J. Groenke has moved back to Touring Class in the #49 MINI Cooper S JCW. Marc-André Bergeron has had a rough start to the season but maybe changing his car number to 47 (same number he wears in the NHL) will help him to turn his luck around. Let’s wish him well!

About CTCC
The Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire is the only truly Canadian professional road racing series and it showcases race cars based on their original stock street version. The entry-level B-Spec Class introduces a sub-compact car category with a stock engine and strictly controlled modifications; the Touring Class features cars with minimal modifications, while Super Class machines have powerful and heavily modified engines and advanced aerodynamics. All three classes compete at the same time on the track and challenge for supremacy in their class.
