The 62nd running of the Leavitt Machinery Knox Mountain Hill Climb takes place May 18-19, 2019 in the city of Kelowna, BC at Knox Mountain Park. The hill climb is the longest annually running paved hill climb in North America and attracts the top drivers from throughout British Columbia, Alberta and the northwest United States. The hill climb is 2.2 miles (3.5 km) long and climbs 800 feet (245 metres) with a total of nine turns from bottom to top for an average grade of 6.7 percent.

Cars are run one at a time, each trying to reach the top of the hill in the lowest elapsed time. Drivers/cars compete in various classes, from open-wheel formula cars to various sports car and sedan classes, including powerful high-horsepower GT cars. There is also a vintage race car class that brings out some great old cars from the past.

Each driver hopes to be crowned ‘King of the Hill’ by posting the fastest time of the weekend. Each car gets one practice run and up to seven timed runs over the course of the weekend.
There will also be a car corral at the bottom of the hill during both days. On Saturday night, there will be a ‘Rock the Mountain’ party with live music, a beer garden and race cars on display for spectators to view and interact with the racers.

The hill climb also supports two local charities, JoeAnna’s House & the Kelowna SPCA. The Hands Together for a Cure Porsche will also be raising funds through car rides up the mountain during the weekend, with proceeds going to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation.
