@OSCAARRacing • (December 3, 2015)– With only two finishes outside of the top-10 in 2015, it was certainly a successful season for Brian McDonald as he would finish fourth in the Midas of Orangeville OSCAAR Midget standings.
For McDonald, he’d kick off his season on a strong note, finishing seventh in the Spring Velocity at Sunset Speedway. The Innisfil, Ontario oval was a place that he’d be solid at throughout the season, finishing inside the top-11 in each of his following three appearances. He would finish sixth at the beginning of June, followed by an 11th in July and a ninth place finish in September.
In reflecting upon McDonald’s season, there was only track on the schedule that McDonald failed to finish in the top-15, and that was the series’ single trip to Flamboro Speedway at the end of August. McDonald would finish 20th at the end of the 25-lap feature, following issues in the event.
Despite the issues, it shouldn’t downplay the rest of the season as McDonald proved that he could get the job done at any of the tracks on the tour. He would post a sixth and eighth in his two starts that at the tight ¼ mile bullring known as Full Throttle Motor Speedway, to go along with a fifth on the flat 1/4 mile known as Sauble Speedway.
Everything wouldn’t go totally smooth for McDonald at Peterborough Speedway, though, as evident by one of his four races resulted in a finish outside of the top-10. The event on July 18 would see McDonald finish 16th. The other three events, though, he was strong, boosting an average finish of 6.67. He would finish fourth in May, followed by a sixth in August and a 10th to close out the season in October.
The fourth from May was McDonald’s best result of the 2015 season as unfortunately, he would fail to finish on the podium in a feature despite winning a heat over the course of the season. The finish of fourth was something that he not only achieved at Peterborough, but also in the division’s single trip out to Grand Bend Speedway in August.
With a strong season under his belt, the driver of the No. 42 TSN Towing, Home Team (Curb Appeal) Sweet Peas Mud Bogs, Carolyn mood, LA Signs, Johnny’s Pizza and Arthurs Fuel Midget will certainly be a driver to watch in 2016 in not only the fight to get to victory lane, but also for the championship.
