@OSCAARRacing • (December 18, 2015)- With three top-fives and eight top-10s on the season, it was certainly a solid rookie campaign for SMG Motorsports as Sean Grosman finished third in the Dickies OSCAAR Outlaws presented by London Recreational Racing points standings.

While he finished the year strong, it didn’t start off how Grosman would’ve hoped, though. He had a strong run going in his OSCAAR debut at his home track, Sunset Speedway, when contact with a fellow competitor resulted in a DNF. Though despite not scoring the expected finish, the team was pleased with their performance, given that Grosman was able to score a heat victory and be the top qualifier.

The speed and dedication showed in his return to Sunset Speedway a month later, as he was able to put the pieces together with a solid run en route to finishing fourth.

“I felt as though we would be more than capable of running at the front of the field at Sunset – and we proved that on Saturday,” Grosman said per a press release by Spencer Lewis. “The guys that finished ahead of us have quite a few more laps in these cars than I do, and if we can continue to improve I think that we’ll have even more for them when we come back to Sunset at the end of June.

“We’ve been fortunate with the way the early-season schedule has worked out. Sunset is, without question, our strongest track. We’re going to bank as many points here before we head out on the road and the real learning curve begins.”

In the pair of return trips to Sunset Speedway, he had another strong run, and another run where there was a bit left on the table. He finished ninth in his August appearance after a spin early in the race, followed by a fourth in the Velocity 250 in September.

As Grosman mentioned, the learning curve was going to be going to tracks that he hadn’t been to thus far in his career. While there was some struggles, he certainly didn’t falter that much with no finishes outside of the top-10.

The single trips to Delaware Speedway and Flamboro Speedway produced finishes of seventh and sixth, respectively, with Grosman admitting afterwards that they missed the set-up slightly in their learning process.

The trip to Sauble Speedway certainly produced some fireworks, though, as Grosman was involved in one of the biggest crashes of the season with fellow competitor Shawn Chenoweth catching some air. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the crash and despite the heavy damage, repairs were able to be made without missing any events.

With crew chief Ryan Kimball having multiple laps behind the wheel at Peterborough Speedway, it was certainly a track circled that could produce success for Grosman. The

first trip to Peterborough, though, Kimball took the reigns behind the wheel with Grosman unable to attend due to a family commitment. The crew chief had a solid performance, finishing fourth. Grosman held up his end, though, producing a fourth palce finish in August behind the wheel of the No. 29 For Your Eyes Only of Toronto, The Landing Strip Gentleman’s Club of Toronto, Flagship Properties, SL Promotions and Rylex Glass & Mirror Super Late Model. Unfortuantely, the season didn’t end as Grosman would’ve hoped with an eighth place finish in October as a result of a mid-race incident.

With solid performances across the season, Grosman proved that he can get the job done behind the wheel of a super late model. Look for the Frequent Flyer to post his first podium finish quickly in the 2016 season.
