Mississauga, Ont. (May 27, 2019) – The fifth season of the Nissan Micra Cup started ten days ago at Ontario’s Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP). In addition to the CTMP, north-east of Toronto; Circuit Mont-Tremblant, near greater Montreal and the Laurentians; and the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, the Nissan Micra Cup will be hosted in Calabogie this weekend near Ottawa for the third time in the history of the series.

The uniqueness of this weekend’s event is that the drivers will compete on two different tracks. Saturday’s qualifying and race one will take place on the short 2.81 km course, whereas the drivers will take to the 5.05 km course for Sunday’s races, Canada’s longest track. Each race will be a 40-minute duration.

Looking back at the race results from the inaugural round at CTMP, could Torontonian Marco Signoretti, a young rookie driver, use his first time at Calabogie Motorsports Park to beat the series top leaders? Triple champion Olivier Bédard (Solid XPerts team) won both races at CTMP, confirming his status as the top contender for the 2019 title. However, Signoretti signified his position as one to watch this season with his two second place finishes and leading several laps during Sunday’s race. Following 12 years in karting, Signoretti, the PayPal / Motorsports In Action team member is a newcomer to the Nissan Micra Cup series, as well as closed car racing. Even though this weekend will be Signoretti’s first time on the Calabogie Motorsports Park track, he undoubtedly wants to perform at the same level or better than CTMP.

Having each earned a podium finish at CTMP, Kevin King and Valérie Limoges are both included among the series favourites. With the arrival of Ontarian Demi Chalkias, Limoges is no longer the only female driver in the series this season. Additionally, this weekend in Calabogie will also mark the debut of a third female driver, Quebecker Marie-Josée Massicotte.

Nissan Micra Cup fans should also keep their eyes on Taylor Near, Signoretti’s PayPal / Motorsports In Action teammate; Jake Exton, 2017 Novice champion; and Sylvain Ouellet and Frédéric Bernier, currently battling for top spot in the Senior class.

In addition to the two highly anticipated races contested in identical, practically-stock Nissan Micra’s, the Kyle Nash Race Weekend event in Calabogie will provide Canadian Nissan Micra owners with free attendance, which requires registering online at www.micracup.com. Nissan Canada will provide two free entry tickets to all pre-registered Nissan Micra owners for each event in the series. With highly accessible paddocks, Calabogie Motorsports Park is the perfect spot for spectators to discover the world of the Nissan Micra Cup.
