Delaware ON, (September 10, 2018)- September continues to be a great month for Delaware Super Stock driver Trevor Collver. Friday night Collver picked up his second win of 2018 as the speedway closed out its Championship season. In the first of two final points races, Collver would rollout out to the grid in fifth position after group qualifying concluded and quickly mounted a charge shortly after the green flag deployed.
A flurry of caution flags plagued the 25 lap event as Collver took the lead from Dave McCullough before the race was five laps old. Collver’s Inventory Express Lubricants #1 Camaro got out to a five car length lead, but the rash of cautions would continue. Each restart would put Collver beside a different competitor as the battle for second was fierce between Championship hopefuls. Dave McCullough, Gary Adriaensen, and Andrew Ferreira all took turns at Collver after each restart. Ferreira was in need of points to steal a championship and had the most to gain to get by Collver and made several attempts. Collver was able to keep all the advances behind him and took the checkered flag.
Race two didn’t go quite as well, as the Collver team had to start well back after the inversion and had his work cut out to get to the front. Collver quickly carved his way to the front of the field but was involved in a three-wide altercation that knocked out the toe and struggled to keep inside the top five. The effects of the ill handling car also forced Collver against the wall and flattened a tire and went for a spin in turn one. Collver did bounce back to finish inside the top 10, but left disappointed to leave points on the table. Trevor Collver finished the year with two wins, 15 Top 5’s and 22 Top 10’s and a final points standing of fifth, a mere four points out of fourth. The year was also a success as he left the season as the official qualifying track record holder.
Up next for the Trevor Collver Motorsport team is the 37th Great Canadian Race weekend at Delaware Speedway. Collver has taken the checkered flag two of the last three years. Collver has had some successful outings in September Spectacular and comes in extremely confident to take the checkers again this coming Friday night September 14. The TCM team welcomes all fans to be part of the festivities of Delaware Speedways biggest weekend, The Great Canadian Race.
