SAUBLE BEACH, ON (August 10, 2017)- Despite battling issues throughout the day, Travis McLean came away with a solid performance in his first ever Thunder Car invitational event, scoring a top-15 finish at the Battle of the Beach at Sauble Speedway.
The afternoon started off with practice going solidly each time out for McLean, set for a solid performance in the qualifying heats. However, both heats the car would no remain in gear for the youngster, costing him valuable track position as a result.
Starting 26th out of 27 cars in the feature, he would battle hard for track position throughout, moving up six spots in the first half of the event. Still fighting transmission issues with the car jumping out of gear three times, he pushed hard and crossed the finish line after the 50 laps with a 14th-place finish.
