@andrew_ranger • @NASCARHomeTrack •#NASCARPintysSeries •@Riverside_NS •August 21, 2016. Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team traveled to Antigonish, Nova Scotia to tackle the high banks of Riverside International Speedway for round number nine of the 2016 NASCAR Pinty’s Series on Saturday night. While Ranger is a past winner at the 1/3-mile oval the most recent visit is one the team will quickly like to forget.
From the beginning of on track action during afternoon practice Ranger had his hands full with the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge.
“I’ve never had a car like that here,” said Ranger. “We tried some different things but it was really tight” he added.
When the 300-lap feature event began it appeared Ranger had found something in the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge and began to move forward in the field. Quickly inside the top ten he continued to gain positions.
“I was trying some different lines and was able to gain some positions,” he stated.
Soon though fortunes for Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge would change. As the race neared the midway point he suffered a flat left front tire that would bring out a caution period and slow the field. In addition to losing ground due to the flat Ranger was also penalized for causing the caution period.
“I’m extremely upset that we received a penalty and had to serve a stop and go penalty,” said the dejected driver.
Ranger then went about salvaging what he could after being set back in the field. Using all his skills he worked the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge as hard as he could to recover. Regrettably he would be forced to retire early due to mechanical issues.
“It’s very disappointing to have this kind of race. I have to thank the Team Mopar guys for working so hard, but now we put this one behind us and we focus on the next race at CTMP. It’s a track that we won at earlier this year”.
After eight races Andrew Ranger is second in the overall championship standings.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge team are back in action next this coming Saturday August 20th at Riverside International Speedway near Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
