SAUBLE BEACH, ON- After battling through an ill-handling in June 14th action at Sauble Speedway, Josh Stade and the Stade Motorsports team went back to the proverbial drawing board and carved out a 5th place finish on June 21st at ‘the Beach’.
“We needed a night like tonight to inject a little confidence back in our program”, said Stade post-race. “The car just wasn’t where we need it to be last Saturday, so we virtually went back to square one to try and improve on it tonight”
The second-generation star impressed early on, leading the first 10 laps of the Limited Late Model A-Main, before developing a ‘loose off’ condition.
“I could feel the improvements in this car from the moment we backed it off the hauler”, explained Stade. “All of my guys really went the extra mile this week. The car felt awesome early on. We were able to roll the center, and for the first 10-laps it really felt as though we had something for the top guys”
“Unfortunately, just after lap-10, the car started to go away and we just couldn’t find the bite off the corner to stay in front”
The MEI Paving No. 17 would fade to 9th position, before coming alive for a late-race run to the finish.
“Our car seemed to wake up with about 10 to go, and we were able to knock down some positions”, said Stade.
“Tonight gave us a great base to build off of. We’re improving every week, and I was able to give some feedback to my team and [chassis expert] Brian MacDonald, to put a better package together for next weekend”
‘Prime Time’ has now yet to finish outside of the top-5 at Sauble, a feat he credits for keeping his family-run effort motivated.
“The top-5 finishes definitely make the long nights in the shop easier”, said the 21-year old. “We’re constantly working on this piece. Trying to move forward and improve. Knowing that we’re headed in the right direction is what keeps us positive”
The Stade Motorsports team will return to action this Saturday, June 28th for another 35-lap Limited Late Model contest at Sauble Speedway. Gate times and ticket prices can be found at www.SaubleSpeedway.ca
Jose Stade’s 2014 campaign is powered by MEI Paving, APC of Chesley & Hanover, Upper Canada Tile, Kunkel Bus Lines, Chesley Kinsmen and Ken’s Truck Painting.
