DURHAM, ON- Following a rookie campaign full of challenges, OSCAAR Modified Tour sophomore Tommy Robb will return to fulltime competition in 2015 with a brand new program.
‘Relentless’ will make his debut this weekend, when the OSCAAR Modified Tour rolls into Sunset Speedway on May 16th for the inaugural ‘Spring Velocity’.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous,” laughs Robb. “No matter how laps you have, and no matter how long you’ve been around there’s always a little feeling of unease heading into opening night”
The Durham, ON resident will look to get a handle on a newly configured car, after an off-season spent retooling his efforts for a solid sophomore campaign.
“We’ve done so much work to this car over the winter – I think we’re all more focused on getting some laps on this car in practice than we are the race itself”
“Everything about the front end of this car is different from what we knew in 2014. So we have a lot to learn in a short amount of time,” continues Robb.
Though Robb will enter Sunset with a brand new setup to work with, the sophomore is confident that a willingness to outwork and out-adapt his competitors will be the key to a strong performance.
“There are a lot of guys that made the same kind of adjustments we did over the off-season,” outlines Robb. “I think the winner on opening night is going to be the team that was able to make adjustments the quickest”
“If we get in the hole early after practice, it’s going to be a long night. But, if we can figure this thing out – I think we can be a problem for any driver on this tour”
With his frustrating 2014 season behind him, Robb is ready to show the rest of the OSCAAR tour that his family-run effort is prepared to contend on a weekly basis.
“We learned more in our first season in a Modified than I ever dreamed we would. We took all that we learned and put it into this car over the winter. In a lot of ways, we’re diving in feet first – but that’s all we’ve been doing from the moment we first brought this car out”
“I have all the confidence in the world in the people surrounding me, and we’re going to do everything in our power to find our way to the front on Saturday.”
Tommy Robb’s 2015 season will be made possible thanks to First General Services of Hanover and Kitchener, Sturrock Construction, Roymar Demolition, Wild’s Printing and the ever-present support of Tommy’s Mother and Father.
