If you’re having trouble finding that special gift for the racer in the family, TMI AutoTech is offering this Special Edition Ariel Atom, the fastest Atoms that they have built…

On a daily basis we strive to build the ultimate lightweight sportscar – The Ariel Atom!   Each vehicle is built by hand for its new owner….so every vehicle is pretty special.

With that said – we have something VERY special to announce that takes the Ariel Atom to the next level with a technical partnership between Honda Performance Development and TMI AutoTech.  The result is the Ariel Atom Honda Racing/HPD Edition.

Overview:

TMI AutoTech, Inc. is pleased to announce a limited offering of Ariel Atom Honda Racing/HPD Edition track-day cars. The cars are the result of collaboration between TMI and Honda Performance Development (HPD). HPD selected key components from its current motorsports programs to increase the performance of the standard Atom.

This exclusive run of 10 vehicles will utilize a unique blend of performance components that has not yet been seen on an Ariel Atom in North America

Ariel Atom Honda Racing/HPD Edition Project:

Building on a current relationship between HPD and TMI AutoTech, Inc. was a natural progression for the two companies that launched the successful Spec:RaceAtom series together in 2011.

Showcasing the performance potential of Honda Racing/HPD racing parts in combination with the in-house manufacturing capabilities of TMI AutoTech, Inc. is the goal of this track-day focused, ultra-performance supercar, while at the same time providing a memorable driving experience for the owners.

Ten uniquely numbered builds will be produced.

Engine/Transmission:

All Ariel Atom 3s utilize a Honda drivetrain that has proven to be reliable, quick, and a desirable fit for performance drivers. The Ariel Atom Honda Racing/HPD Edition steps past previous boundaries and utilizes a powertrain that has never been used in an Ariel Atom.

Based around a highly successful Honda Performance Development engine used in all 2012 and 2013 model Honda Civic Si vehicles participating in Grand-Am and World Challenge competition, this limited-edition Ariel Atom features a hand-built, naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine that will be music to any driving enthusiast’s ears.  The unique Ariel Atom powertrain is a combination of a 2.4L, inline 4-cylinder K-series cylinder block and a 4-port, free-flowing, 4-valve-per-cylinder head that together produce 275hp and 225Ft/lbs. of torque.   The unique layout of the Ariel Atom allows for improved intake flow through a short runner design, as well as free-flowing exhaust routing that gives this engine a noticeable boost in performance, all the way up to its 8000rpm redline.

The Honda Racing/HPD close-ratio gear set has been chosen to feed the power through a Honda 6-speed transmission with a limited slip differential.

Vehicle Specifications:

A lightweight exoskeleton design has been the calling card of the Ariel Atom for over a decade. This design has propelled the vehicle to countless accolades within automotive and lifestyle media; the Ariel Atom has been a vehicle desired by automotive enthusiasts.

The Ariel Atom Honda Racing/HPD Edition will feature a unique graphics package to distinguish it from other Ariel Atoms on the track. In addition to the graphics package, a custom-designed and fully welded roll structure provides a visual clue for onlookers that this vehicle is track-focused.

More than just the engine and graphics separate this vehicle from any Ariel Atom ever built, with braking handled by Honda Racing/HPD radial mount 4-piston calipers on all corners, with 300mm floating discs working to consistently, and quickly, slow the vehicle.

Suspension wishbones are both aesthetically and functionally pleasing, with chromoly aerotube replacing the standard round steel tubing. This provides a lightweight solution for the double adjustable, custom-calibrated, JRI aluminum dampers to work with, through needle roller bearing -equipped bellcranks.

Cockpit features provide drivers with necessary information through a Race Technology DASH2 display logger, while keeping the visceral experience of the Ariel Atom alive with simplistic touches such as a limited-edition shift knob and a custom tinted aero screen for wind deflection. A racing pedal set, anatomic D-shaped steering wheel connected to a quick-ratio steering rack, and composite seating help to ensure the driver’s senses are fully in line with the vehicle once the HANS compatible 6-point safety harness is tightened up.
