Trois-Rivières (Québec, Canada), Septembre 5, 2018 – The #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare Team takes on the last three events of 2018 as Championship leader. The team fielded strong oval and road race cars right from the season opener, and everyone on the team has put in the same preparation work to ensure that our positive trend continues at the Autodrome St-Eustache (St-Eustache, Québec) this coming Saturday evening. Consistency has been key to the team’s results all season, and we will continue to push towards our season goal, the Championship, « one lap at a time ».
“We are looking to continue putting in strong finishes at the three remaining events, and we will take on St-Eustache looking for the win, applying our usual intensity that has paid off handsomely so far in 2018. Our oval car set-up makes it comfortable to drive and push at 100% at this track. We are all looking for more excellent results we got here over the years and are now clearly aiming at the top step on the podium,” added a confident looking Louis-Phillipe Dumoulin.
“The fight for the championship has been tight all season, and the pressure is really on with only three races to go» added the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare car. “The close fights between Alex Tagliani and myself for the lead in the Championship, and between Cole Powell and D.J. Kennington for third or better means that we are all pushing each other hard on every lap and putting on a great show. Any driving error at the Autodrome St-Eustache takes a heavy toll on the results as passing is always difficult on the track’s tight corners. Starting from the front is key to a great result, and that is certainly part of my race plan.”
Oval Tracks
The oval tracks where NASCAR Pinty’s events take place look pretty much the same to the untrained eye. But talk to any driver or crew chief in the series and they will go on chapter and verse about how completely different they all are to race on. In fact, it turns out that no two tracks are really close to each other from the driver’s standpoint. We can talk about length, surface, height, angle and shape of the bowls in each corner, tight or open corners, track width in corners and on straightaways, bumps and heaves at critical spots, minimum and maximum speeds, differing car suspension set-ups, and ideal lines everywhere around the track.
You can see why locals have an advantage by knowing all the tricks and nooks and crannies of their home track. Annual visitors need to catch up on any changes, damage to the surface or a new patch in the middle of a corner…
The Autodrome St-Eustache offers four very different corners with no banking, making passing for position particularly arduous. Lots of action coming for everyone this Saturday night!
The race will be broadcast on TSN on Saturday September 15th at 3:30 pm and on RDS on Tuesday October 2nd at 10:30 pm.
THE RACE AGAINST CANCER
The great Dumoulin Competition Challenge to raise money for the Quebec Cancer Foundation continues this coming weekend. Each act of generosity on our part is another step towards our “Podium.”
Please come and see us in the paddock on September 8th at the Autodrome St-Eustache and add your name to the trunk lids of the Jean-François and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin cars.
