(July 8, 2015) – Caistor Centre, Ontario – Summer is officially in high gear. Despite a rainout, the Team Turner Racing Sprint Cars were kept very busy last week with three races in five days.

JUNE 27 – MERRITTVILLE

The first of four scheduled races in eight days for Jamie and sons Cory and Ryan was cancelled due to rain. Unfortunately, the Empire Super Sprints tour portion of the Gary Cunningham Memorial Canada Day Special at Merrittville Speedway will not be rescheduled in 2015.

JUNE 30 – OHSWEKEN

A rare weeknight event for Team Turner found a large crowd of fans and teams at Ohsweken Speedway for the inaugural “Triple Crown Showdown, with Big Block Modifieds, Crate Late Models, 360 Sprint Cars, and Thunder Stocks all on the card. Jamie, Cory, and Ryan were part of a good field of 27 Sprint Cars entered in the event.

The night didn’t start out well for any of the TTR drivers. Ryan’s car suffered a mechanical problem and forced him to sit out the rest of the night, while Cory and Jamie both fell back in their heat races.

“I started outside pole in the heat race and got over the cushion on the first lap,” noted Cory. “A driver error cost me a few spots, but I was able to finish 4th and transfer to the A-Main. My dad started 3rd in his heat and finished 6th.  We both didn’t have real good showings in our heat races, but we made the A-Main, which is always a good start.”

Both Cory and Jamie were able to finish the 25 lap feature race, and salvage some championship points.

“My dad and I both made forward progress and had solid runs on track that had a lot of moisture,” said Cory. “I started 12th and finished 8th, and my dad started 18th and finished 11th.”

JULY 3 – OHSWEKEN

The team was back at Ohsweken on Friday night for the annual challenge event between the track’s weekly 360 Sprint Car division and the Southern Ontario Sprints tour.

Cory and Jamie both started 3rd in their respective heat races and went on to win them and earn spots in the redraw, while Ryan finished 5th in his heat race and earned a transfer spot to the feature.

“I ended up being the ‘Top Gun’ which was pretty cool,” noted Cory. “This was the first time that I had been able to accumulate the most passing points in heat race competition!”

Cory drew the 4th starting spot for the feature race, while Jamie drew 8th and Ryan started 14th.

“I lost a couple spots on the first couple of laps prior to an early caution,” Cory said. “I was able to regain some of the spots that I lost early in the race, and finish in the 5th position. I was pretty proud of our team, as I was able to pick up my first top 5 at Ohsweken Speedway!

“My dad had a solid top ten run going until he ended (up) on his side after hitting a large hole in turn one not quite right.  This ended his night and he was scored 22nd. My brother had a strong run on a track that changed immensely from the drop of the green. He started 14th and finished 11th.”

JULY 4 – SOUTH BUXTON

Jamie and Ryan made the trip to South Buxton Raceway for the Southern Ontario Sprints tour event on Saturday night, as Cory chose to attend the wedding of a close friend.

Jamie earned a redraw spot by finishing 2nd in his heat race, while Ryan finished 6th in his heat race.

“In the feature my dad missed the setup a little bit and finished 9th after starting 6th,” Cory said “My brother made forward progress and finished 10th after starting 12th.”
