@Sunset_Speedway • @NASCARHomeTrack •ORILLIA, Ont. (January 12, 2016) – Since the final checkered flag fell at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic last October, Taylor Holdaway hasn’t spent much time away from his No.41 Limited Late Model.

“The weekend after Autumn Colours, the car was stripped down. We didn’t take much time off at all. We got right in to the rebuild,” Holdaway said. “There’s always stuff you can be improving on and learning.”

The Orillia, Ont. native certainly could have justified a couple of months away from the shop after winning the Sunset Speedway and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Provincial championships while finishing third overall in NASCAR’s North American weekly series points. The team’s car is already back together and is a few bolts and graphics shy of being race ready.

“Just because we had a successful year doesn’t mean we can back down and think it’s going to come easy next year. We’re working just as hard as everyone else to make sure our stuff is A1 for the start of the season,” Holdaway added.

In early December, Holdaway travelled to Charlotte, NC for the NASCAR banquet to accept his award as a national podium finisher in the 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-American Weekly Series. The experience was nothing short of impressive, Holdaway said.

“I have nothing but good things to say about everyone from NASCAR. It was such a unique experience,” Holdaway explained. “They treat you like gold and you meet so many cool people.”

In preparation for the 2016 season, which opens at Sunset on April 30, Holdaway has made minor changes to the Holdaway Automotive/Image Factor No.41 to adjust to Sunset rulebook updates. While the team will continue to look for ways to improve, many things will remain the same from the No.41 team’s banner year.

“I’m kind of superstitious. When you have something going like we did last year, we don’t want to change much. I’m bad enough that I’m not even changing the paint scheme,” Holdaway joked.

In addition to his primary Limited Late Model, Holdaway has acquired a Hamke-built Pro Late Model chassis from North Carolina with the intention of competing part-time in the APC United Late Model Series in 2016. He does not currently have a set schedule to compete with the Southern Ontario tour.

“Our priority is to repeat at Sunset Speedway. That hasn’t been done in a while,” Holdaway said. “We will be out in the Pro Late Model whenever we get the car together.”

Scott Wylie will return to the Holdaway Motorsports team for a full 2016 season at Sunset. Wylie will pilot a brand new Streamline Race Products car for his second season at the Innisfil-area oval.

Both Holdaway and Wylie will be in action when the 2016 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Limited Late Model season at Sunset Speedway kicks off on April 30.
