(JUNE 30, 2017) St.John’s NL- 17 teams have registered and prepared for Burin Targa Bambina.
It is shaping up to be a successful and busy Canada Day weekend for the southern Burin Peninsula.
Seventeen teams of two from all over Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Ontario will help kick start the first annual Targa Bambina event in Jean de Baie Saturday morning, concluding in Parker’s Cove Monday afternoon.
The Town of Burin was abuzz with chatter Friday as competitors drove their road-ready vehicles to register and get inspected in preparation for Saturday morning’s launch.
This event, which is in memory of the late Tom Hollett, will see three days of competition in three categories, including a non-competitive category with Targa NL’s youngest ever participant, 10-year-old Olivia Ryan of Clarenville, navigating for her grandfather.
Several Targa veterans will take on some novice competitors in the three-day event.
Roads will be closed for the races.
