@targanl • @Motoramashow • TORONTO, ON – Just weeks after wrapping up another successful edition of Targa Newfoundland, organizers are already preparing for 2016, which will be the 15th anniversary of the event. That includes the announcement that the promotional campaign for Targa 2016 will kick into high gear at the 2nd annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo. The show takes place March 11, 12 & 13, 2016 at Toronto’s International Centre.
According to Targa Newfoundland president and founder Robert Giannou, Targa’s annual appearance in Toronto is a key component of Targa’s promotional campaign.
“It’s our biggest window in our biggest market,” said Giannou. “The Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo is a huge attraction for us. With almost one-third of the country’s population in and around Toronto, it’s an amazing opportunity for us to promote Targa Newfoundland. And the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo appeals to a broad base of car owners, which allows us to introduce ourselves to all those people and the people who come to see the cars.”
The inaugural Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo took place in March of 2015 and combined the traditional custom car and hot rod show at the International Centre with the long-running Canadian Motorsports Expo. Building upon the success of the inaugural show, the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo is expanding in 2016 to fill all of Halls 1 & 2 at the International Centre. The additional space will accommodate more vehicles and displays.
The Targa Newfoundland display will feature multiple examples of race-ready machinery, along with their drivers and support crews. Organizers of the Targa will also be on hand to answer any questions, while encouraging potential entrants to give the unique automotive event a try.
“In addition to our display, we try to have an entry-based contest for those in attendance for Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo visitors,” said Giannou. “More details will be available in the future on our newly re-designed and more user-friendly website, created by Hume Media, starting in November.”
The 2016 Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo also marks the fifth anniversary of the partnership between Motorama and Targa Newfoundland organizers.
“We are very proud of our ongoing relationship with Targa Newfoundland and are looking forward to being a part of such an important milestone in 2016,” said Motorama co-founder David Weber.
“Targa Newfoundland was a big supporter of the inaugural Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo and we are very grateful for their participation and support,” added Motorama co-founder Greg MacPherson. “And most importantly, Targa Newfoundland holds a unique place in Canadian motorsport and continues to get better year after year.”
As an added bonus in 2016, Targa Newfoundland organisers have created the Quick Tour, which is based on a minimum one day of entry to a maximum of three days. The Quick Tour is attached to the Fast Tour division, which is not a competition, but the Quick Tour will have a pace car in front of the group and will need all licenses and correct documentation supporting your entry to enter. Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo visitors interested in trying Targa Newfoundland will have a chance to sign up for the Quick Tour or any other division of Targa at the 2016 show.
“The Quick Tour is a way for us to give people on the fence about experiencing the Full Targa Newfoundland event a taste of what it is like to drive on some of Canada’s most beautiful and challenging roads,” said Giannou. “We know you’ll be back; your first time will not be your last!”
