Toronto, Ontario, July 26th, 2012 – The countdown has started, only eight days left before the inaugural race of the new Canadian Supercar Series. On August 3rd, 4th and 5th, Supercar drivers will take to the streets of Trois-Rivières.
Dedicated to high performance and exotic race cars, Supercar provides an environment for drivers to showcase their race cars and to challenge other cars of similar performance. Supercars like the Acura NSX, Corvette, BMW M Coupe, Ferrari 430, Nissan 370Z and Porsche typically have over 400 horsepower. Supercar encourages hard but fair competition under a code of respectful driving.
Over twenty cars will create the first field in Trois-Rivières. Amongst them: Marc-Antoine Camirand (SDP Autosport) will drive his No. 96 BMW M Coupe, Jean-François Dumoulin (Dumoulin Compétition) will be behind the wheel of the No. 69 Acura NSX, Simon Dion-Viens (Dion-Viens Racing) in his No. 17 Chevrolet Corvette and Martin Harvey (Wingho Motorsports Racing) in his No. 08 Porsche GT3. Those drivers have significant experience on this unique track and will be battling with other drivers like: Steve Poulin (TARGET Racing Team) in the No. 37 Nissan 370Z, Eric Jacques (TARGET Racing Team) in the No. 35 Nissan 370Z, Pierre-André Gosselin (TARGET Racing Team) behind the wheel of the No. 33 Nissan 370Z, Charles Hammer (CHAG Autosport) in the No. 60 Volvo, Olivier Rivard (Rivard Compétition) in the No. 77 Porsche GT3, Martin Burrowes (INXS Motorsport) will drive the No. 41 Ferrari 430, André Belzile (André Gaudet AutoSport) in the No. 241 Porsche GT3, Stéphane Veilleux (Team DICOM Racing) in his No. 88 Porsche GT3 and many more.
Historically won by Richard “Dick” Brown and Maurice “Mo” Carter, the Mayor’s Cup will be battled again, but this time by Supercar drivers. According to GP3R’s statistics, the famous Cup was won the last time in its history by Marc-Antoine Camirand. Competition will be strong. Will Camirand be able to have his name print again on the Cup?
