@bos_speedway • @SuperDIRTcar • The biggest names in DIRTcar Modified racing are heading north of the border.

Wednesday, May 27 the Big Blocks will be back at Brockville Ontario Speedway for 100 action packed laps. Hearn, Decker, Sheppard and more. If they’ve made headlines in the sport, they’ll be thrilling fans and challenging the hometown favourites including Brockville’s own Matt Billings and multi-time track champion Danny O’Brien at the 3/8th mile clay layout on Temperance Lake Road, just north of Brockville.

Track owner and promoter Paul Kirkland says this is one of the ‘must see’ events on the annual calendar.

“If you count the Northeast Fall Nationals, we’re lucky enough to have the Big Blocks in town a couple of times a year, but this Wednesday night’s show – with the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds as the support class – is a one day, stand-alone event,” said Kirkland. “We’re excited to have the tour come here so early in the season and think it’ll be an exciting night for the fans and race teams.”

In 2014, Justin Haers scored his first career Super DIRTcar Series win during this event and will be looking for a repeat performance. At the Fall Nationals, veteran campaigner Danny Johnson swept the Small Block and Big Block ‘A’ main victories and hopes to build on what has been a strong start to the new season. Kirkland stresses that on a track the size of Brockville, its more about driver and car than it is about what’s under the hood.

“Over the years, I’ve watched a small block car run laps here that are just as competitive as their big block counterparts,” said Kirkland. “Some of the Big Block travellers will actually bring a car with a small block powerplant when they come here for the race. That’ll level the playing field and give almost anyone who rolls through the pit gate a chance to collect the winner’s cheque.”
